The Osgoode Village Community Association Canada Day Committee has been busy planning what it hopes will be another fantastic Canada Day celebration in Osgoode. There will be many activities for the entire family to enjoy, including a dog agility show, children’s activities, fireworks, and more! Come spend July 1st in the Village amongst your family, friends, and neighbours – why go anywhere else?
Door to door canvassing will take place from June 20th to 30th. Donations will go to offset the costs of the fireworks, stage shows, children’s activities. We appreciate your help in supporting this community initiative!
FREE CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES (2:00 -5:00 pm)
There will be a ton of free children’s activities, including an inflatable bouncy house and an obstacle course, a petting zoo and pony rides sponsored by Raymond’s. All activities will take place on the grounds outside the Stuart Holmes Arena & Osgoode Community Centre. We will have balloon animals being made on site this year for the kids! Be sure to purchase a delicious piece of homemade pie sponsored by the St. James United Church ladies located beside the entertainment stage inside the arena.
The newly formed Osgoode Business Ward Association will be hosting the annual BBQ. Any funds raised will be split between OBWA & OVCA!
PARADE (5:00 pm)
The Canada Day Parade will depart from Osgoode Main Street at Nixon Drive. Floats, local groups, horses, and more! Children 8-12 years are encouraged to take part in the Foodland Bicycle Decorating Contest. Register at Foodland. Judging for great prizes will take place at St. Paul’s Anglican Church between 4:30-5:00pm. Floats should gather at the corner of Nixon & Main Street at 4:30pm.
AMAZING RACE OSGOODE (6:00pm – 8:30pm)
Sign up in pairs to compete in the “Amazing Race Osgoode”. Sign up throughout the day with official race beginning at 6:30 pm.
In typical Amazing Race fashion, competitors will travel across the village collecting souvenirs and visiting spots of significance. Participants may use their bicycles for this event. Prizes sponsored by Raymonds to be awarded to top winners.
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT (2:00pm – 9:30pm)
On the Entertainment Stage, Yaki music will be performing two shows 2:15pm and again at 3:30pm. Popular Children’s Group – Hey Buster (featured on CBC’s In Town and Out) will also perform two shows. A new feature on the entertainment stage will be the “Rising Star” segment sponsored by Cooper Physiotheraphy. Osgoode and the surrounding area is home to a host of talented people and some of them will be featured on the Entertainment Stage from 7-8:30pm. Rounding out the show will be the traditional sounds of the Gallagher Family who have been a staple of Osgoode’s Canada Day celebrations since its inauguration (originally performing as the Acres Family Singers) more than 20 years ago.
The Day’s festivities will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display!!!
