Duty Day

HalloweenOne parent from each family is required to assist the teachers on a rotation basis, scheduled in advance, as a parent helper at the school. The duty day is essential to the safe and legal operation of the school. Any person who will be volunteering for duty days is required to have a criminal reference check completed. If a parent cannot be at the school on the assigned duty day, it is that parent's responsibility to find a replacement by exchanging times with another parent. There is a $30.00 penalty for missing a duty day. A detailed list of the parent's duties will be posted in the classroom for easy reference. The parent should dress in comfortable clothing, appropriate for outdoor supervision. Parents are asked to bring a snack for the day on which they are the duty parent. Parent's duty days will be schedule on or near their own child's birthday. If you wish to bring a special birthday snack that day, please make the staff aware.
Duty days are rewarding for both the parent and the child. For the child a duty day is a very special day. Your child will probably look forward to your duty day as a special time for him or her, and a day when he or she can help out with classroom routine. It is an opportunity for sharing their special place with Mom or Dad and demonstrating their newly acquired skills. On a duty day the child has an opportunity to do the weather board as well as bring the snack for the group. For the parent, duty days are an opportunity to see their child at work and play, to leave chores at home and to enjoy spending time with their child. If you would like to share a special talent or interest with the children during the class, the Director would be happy to arrange this in advance.
