Osgoode Village Community Association (OVCA) was established in response to a perceived need within the community to have a coordinating body that can assist in serving as an umbrella organization for volunteer associations and organizations within Osgoode Village and surrounding area. OVCA will serve as a point of contact for Osgoode's volunteer community and its residents to ensure good communication within our member community and in representing the community's interest to the city of Ottawa on recreation, community and people services issues.
Community Association status recognized by the City of Ottawa gives us the following benefits:
- Funding opportunities- Grants/Subsidies( eg. receive funding for: Community outdoor ice rink, Special events, Capital projects etc.)
- Community Association group liability insurance (provided by the City of Ottawa)
- Purchase of service agreements with City of Ottawa (Community Association providing community service/programs on behalf of the City of Ottawa)
- Community Associations can be designated to host public forums to allow views, concerns, and interest of residents to be brought forward to the City. ( eg. Road widening, Park Development, Subdivision development proposals, recreational initiatives etc).
General Benefits
- To develop and build community capacity
- To foster interest in the community by promoting and encouraging recreational, educational and other community endeavours
- To pursue interest in the civic, commercial, social and moral welfare of the community
- To represent the interests of the community
- To promote the best interests of the community generally
